Avenida D. João II
Conceived by the famous Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, the Gare do Oriente is one of the most important railway stations of Portugal. It was completed in 1998 for the Expo98 and currently serves Parque das Nações. The complex includes an underground station (also called Oriente), a commercial space and a bus station. The major symbol of the station is a glass and steel roof on the top level, inspired on the shape of trees.
