Largo de São Vicente1100-572 Lisboa
The origins of this monumental building dating back to King D. Afonso Henriques who, fulfilling a vow made if he could conquer Lisbon, founded a monastery dedicated to the martyr São Vicente de Fora. Symbolizing the Christian re-founding of the city, it became one of the most important Lisbon monasteries. At the beginning of King Filipe I’s reign, a reform of the church and the monastery was undertaken, transforming the monastery in one of Lisbon's most impressive buildings. Especial attention to the magnificent tile panels and the fantastic view from the roof / terrace.
